General School Rules

Every student must reach school five minutes prior to morning assembly.

Students who are escorted to and from school in the care of servants or other domestic staff may not leave the school premises without their nominated escort. In case of delay in the arrival of such escorts, they should report the matter to the school office.Students who go home at their own should not loiter about on the way..

The school reserves the right to terminate the continuance of the students with unsatisfactory progress in studies or whose conduct is a bad example for others.

Bullying or uses of foul language are punishable offences. Anyone found doing the same is liable to be issued Yellow/Red card which subsequently will result in expulsion from school.

Students are strictly forbidden to bring objectionable literature/pictures/I-pods/CDs/Pen Drives/Floppies etc to school.

Damaging or disfiguring school property is a serious offence. Any such damage will have to be made good by the defaulter only. Damage done by accident should be reported to the class incharge immediately.

In the interest of their own safety, students are advised not to buy or receive any gifts/food stuffs from anyone at all en route.

Students are forbidden to buy any eatables from hawkers outside the school.

The school is committed to protecting the environment and expects its students to be environment friendly in all their actions.

Students are not allowed to celebrate their birthday at school. However, they are permitted to come to school in civil dress on the day.

Students are not allowed to wear any jewellery or bring any valuable to school. School is not responsible for the loss of any such belongings. However, students from class V onwards are allowed to wear simple watch with black strap.

No student has the permission to commute to school on his/her self-driven geared two wheeler without a driving license. Students have to procure token for their vehicles from school.Defaulters shall be barred from parking the vehicles inside school campus.

Applying henna/nail polish on hands/getting tattoos in carved/bleaching hair is strictly prohibited.

Students can’t leave school campus on any pretext during school hours except in emergency with prior permission of the Principal.

It is mandatory for all students,unless instructed otherwise, to be present for festivals and functions celebrated in the school campus failing which they will be fined `20 per absence.

Strict adherence to prescribed uniform, cleanliness and personal hygiene is to be ensured.

No-physical violence is permitted in the school premises. Creating indiscipline, using unfair means in examination or deviation from any school rules will result in the issue of Yellow/Red card.

Bringing mobile phones to school is strictly forbidden. Mobile Phone oncle confiscated shall remain in school’s possession.

Repeated deviation from any school rules result in expulsion from school.

FOR PARENTS’ CONSIDERATION

  • Please refrain from visiting the class rooms or meeting the teachers during the working hours unless notified to this effect in writing.

  • Intimate the school of any change in your address and contact number. This is in interest of the safety of your ward.

  • Monitor your ward’s progress regularly.

  • Spend sufficient time with your ward to ensure a good level of understanding.

  • Make sure that your ward has his breakfast everyday and reaches school on time.

  • Please don’t send junk food in lunch box of your ward.

  • Please send your ward’s Tiffin only in the morning along with your ward. No-lunch boxes will be sent in the classrooms.

  • Check your child’s diary for any entries/circulars and acknowledge their receipt.

  • Plan your vacation/outings according to the school planner. Holidays outside normal term breaks are very much discouraged.

  • Assist your ward in making a practical time table and developing regular study habits.

  • Provide them supportive and non-threatening environment at home and enough leisure time for recreation.

  • Motivate your ward to participate in co-curricular activities and sports for their all round development.

  • Please ensure that name tags and labels are put on all the personal belongings of your ward e.g. bag, pencil box, exercise books etc.

  • Please don’t send your child to school if he/she is suffering from any contagious or infectious disease unless recovery is complete.

  • Please do not enter the school premises in night dresses.

  • Make sure that your child has his/her breakfast everyday. Please don’t send junk food in lunch box of your child. Send the tiffin in the morning along with your child. Tiffin shall not be sent in the class rooms later.

  • Check your ward’s diary every day for any entries/circulars and acknowledge their receipt. Ensure proper action according to the remarks given by the teachers.

  • Assist your ward in making a practical time table and developing regular study habits. Help them improve their handwriting and maintain their bags properly.

  • Criticism of teacher should be meticulously avoided in the presence of your ward. If you have any equitable complaint, it should be brought into the Principal’s notice.

  • Please motivate your child to communicate in English at home.

  • Any behavioral irregularity of the child should be brought into the knowledge of teachers.

  • Please make sure that your child is regular and punctual in school. Half day leaves are not granted except in extreme exigencies. Students late for school will be sent back home.

  • Please don’t attempt to walk into the class or meet the teacher when the class is in progress.

  • Please attend all PTMs as it ensures smooth progress of your child at school. Please park your vehicles in an orderly manner to avoid any inconvenience to students and passers-by.

FOR STUDENTS CONSIDERATION

  • Develop the habit of doing H.W. regularly, keeping your parents informed about it and showing the Home Assignments to them.

  • Follow a time table as per the needs of each subject.

  • Do your H.W. at your own. In case of any problem, discuss it with your teachers the next day.

  • Do it sitting in a quiet uninterrupted atmosphere.

  • Take a short break after the completion of one task.

  • Reflect regularly on your time use. Set priorities for your work.

SCHOOL UNIFORM RULES

  • The wearing of the uniform is a sacred ritual as it brings about uniformity at BCM, the unique feeling of ‘oneness’, thus underlying the sense of pride in the school dress.

  • Students must always wear neat and clean uniform and as specified –summer, winter or house uniform. Uniform defaulters shall be fined and may be sent back home.

  • I-Cards are an integral part of school uniform and must be worn everyday.

  • No student is allowed to come to school/attend any function/PTM in any other dress than uniform.

  • Students must wear uniform outside the campus while representing the school.

  • Girls with long hairs are required to plait their hair in two braids. All girls must wear red ribbons/hair bands.

  • Non-Sikh boys should get their hair cut at regular intervals and ensure that it remains combed and tidy.

ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL

  • No student who has been absent on the previous day will be allowed to attend class unless his/her parents have entered an explanation stating the reasons for the absence in the Almanac. Students absenting themselves without prior information will be fined Rs.20 per day.

  • In case of absence of more than two days on medical grounds, medical certificate and prescription should be attached along with the application.

  • There is no provision for half day leave. So students who are not well should not be sent to school even on exam/test days. Child shall be marked absent if he/she were to be taken home by parents during school hours even if it were to be an examination/assessment day.

  • A student who absents himself/herself for consecutive ten days from the school without a leave sanctioned by the Principal,is liable to get his/her name struck off the rolls of the school. Re-admission may only be entirely on the discretion of the Principal and only after payment of are-admission fee.

  • All students are expected to attend school on the opening day immediately after the vacations.

  • It is compulsory for students to achieve 85% attendance in each session.This stipulation has been relaxed by 10% for the students who represent the school in National and International sports and other events.

REWARDS AND REPRIMANDS

To motivate students to sustain their good actions, examplary behavior and self-discipline, rewards are conferred upon students whereas reprimands are there for those who indulge in undesirable actions and also to deter others from doing the same.

MERIT CARD

Merit cards are awarded to students for 100% Attendance, Obedience, Discipline, Punctuality, Regularityin H.W.completion, Good Handwriting and Good Communication skills.

YELLOW CARD

For irregularity, being in improper uniform, omission of H.W., bunking periods, disobedience to teachers etc., a student is liable to be issued Yellow Card and get imposed a fine of Rs. 500/-The receipt of two Yellow Cards within one academic session shall lead to the issuance of Red Card.

RED CARD

A student using filthy language,showing malicious behavior, damaging school property, using unfair means in examination/tests and stealing is liable to receive Red Card along with suspension from school for one week and a fine of Rs. 800. Any student on two Red Cards is not liable for promotion to the next class. It may also lead to the expulsion of the offender from the school.

Achievement Awards

BCM hones talent and takes immense pride in recognizing and awarding deserving students with scholarships and awards. This encourages academic scholars towards scaling the pinnacles of success. These students are role models for others to emulate.

Merit Scholarship is conferred upon students who get distinction in annual Examinations.

Scholar Badges is conferred upon students who get distinction in annual Examinations.

Silver Torches is conferred upon students who get distinction in annual Examinations.

Blazers: Students who have been school badge holders throughout their stay and win minimum of Two Silver Torches are honored with Blazers.
