BEING STRONG AND SECURE || PRIMARY WING ||

Following the CBSE guidelines regarding POCSO Act ( Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences ), a PPT was prepared by counseling wing. The slides were based on CACA Safety Workbook series, that is specially designed to teach little students about Good touch/ Bad touch and safety rules to protect themselves from any type of sexual offence. On Oct 11,2019 the PPT was shown to students of Std.II and they were guided to be strong and keep themselves safe against sexual abuse.

WORLD KINDNESS DAY CELEBRATED || KG ||

Kindness is a virtue which should be imbibed right from the very beginning as it makes the planet worth living. Keeping the same in mind BCM Kindergarten Chandigarh Road celebrated ‘World Kindness Day’. The lesson of kindness was taught to the little BCMites by narrating different stories and showing video clippings depicting this value. They were guided by the teachers to be kind to fellow human beings and animals. Principal Mr DP Guleria appreciated the efforts of teachers and opined that it is the need of the hour to inculcate these values among young kids.

CHILDREN'S DAY CELEBRATED ||KG ||

Children’s day was celebrated with the lot of enthusiasm on Nov 14 in BCM Kindergarten Chandigarh Road. The little BCMites came in colourful attires and took part in fun activities planned for the day. They brought the eatables of their choice in their tiffin and danced to the tunes of peppy numbers.

CELEBRATION OF GURU NANAK JAYANTI || MIDDLE WING ||

Guru Nanak Jayanti, celebrates the birth of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji. This is one of the most sacred festivals of the Sikhs. BCM School celebrated Guru Nanak Jayanti as Guru Parab in  the morning assembly. The students displayed his portrait and his ideals on the display boards and also wrote essays. On this occasion, Mr.D.P.Guleria, the Principal of the school delivered a soothing and inspiring speech and blessed all the students and the teachers present over there

Expert Lecture on Political System in India & Nigeria || Secondary Wing ||

Crossing the International boundaries, BCM School, Chandigarh road, Ludhiana had a Skype meeting with its partner school “Imaad School, Nigeria “on 6 November 2019. The students of grade 9 & 10 interacted with their peers in Nigeria about the Political system in India as well as in Nigeria.  The interactive Skype Session provided a platform to BCMites to know about different political parties, election process, how government functions and its welfare policies in Nigeria. BCMites not only got international exposure but also got first-hand information from their peers in Nigeria.  It gave them a chance to widen up their horizons and it even developed a sense of internationalism through school curriculum.BCMites felt enthralled after this meeting as they have made new friends and enriched their global knowledgeCrossing the International boundaries, BCM School, Chandigarh road, Ludhiana had a Skype meeting with its partner school “Imaad School, Nigeria “on 6 November 2019. With an objective to highlight the importance of wild life in balancing the ecological system of the planet and need to save different species of animals Riya Jindal and Updesh Kaur of XI Non-Med delivered speeches in morning assembly in which they enhanced the knowledge of the students about the contribution of animals in our lives. They also highlighted the alarming data showing  the threat that human beings have been inviting for themselves. In the end, they appealed to all to see to the gravity of the problem and contribute to save wild life.

To celebrate the birth anniversary of Iron Man of the country,  Sardar vallabh Bhai Patel and to inculcate  the feeling of patriotism ,Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was celebrated. A speech on the life and contribution of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel was delivered in the morning assembly. The students took Rashtriya Ekta Pledge which motivated them to work and contribute for the welfare of the country.

HUBS OF LEARNING RANGOLI COMPETITION || SENIOR SECONDARY WING ||

The creative expression of art through the use of Rang (Color) is ‘Rangoli’ which is an intricate part of Indian culture and festivals. The same vibrant and colourful spirit reflected in an Inter School Rangoli Competition on Wednesday 23 October in M. Satyanand Munjal Activity Block of BCM School Chandigarh Road wherein 64 students from 8 schools comprising one Hub of Learning participated. The competition was conducted in two categories – for students of IX-X and XI-XII.

The contestants prepared outstanding Rangolis on themes ‘Light’ and ‘National Integration’. Colourful, decorative designs of Rangoli drawn on the floor left the viewers enchanted. It was a tough task for the judges to pick the winners as all the students performed quite well using colourful sand, flowers, rice flour, turmeric powder and other materials. Use of fragrant colors further intensified the ambience.

Springdale Public School emerged as the Overall Winner, grabbing First position in Cat. B and third position in Cat. A whereas BCM School Chandigarh and Ryan International School received First & Second Prizes respectively in Cat. A. Partap Public School and Akal Academy Dhindsa were proclaimed Second and Third position holders in Cat. B.

The Principal of Lead Collaborator School Mr. DP Guleria congratulated the winners and appreciated the efforts of the participants. He also commended CBSE initiative of bringing schools closer to one another by placing them in specific Hubs of Learning.

Seminar on ‘Study in Abroad’ || SENIOR SECONDARY WING ||

To make the students aware about diploma & degree courses in the different universities of Canada, a seminar was organised for the students of XII Com & Humanities in which the resource person Ms. Lindsey Benoit, International Recruitment Specialist, Saint Mary’s University, Nova Scotia, Canada briefed the students about University and various courses available after Class XII. She further highlighted the scholarship opportunities, documents required and the right time to apply. The students were keenly interested in the session. Their queries were also satisfied by the resource person. The Principal of the school Mr. DP Guleria also interacted with the resource person and discussed the diversified career options available for the students.

DR. KALAM RUMINATED ON HIS 89th BIRTH ANNIVERSARY AT TECHNOFEST- 2019 || SENIOR SECONDARY WING ||

‘Techno Fest’–2019 (An Enlightened Vision), a two day event organized by BCM School Chandigarh Road to commemorate 89th birth anniversary of former President of India Rev. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, concluded with a ceremonious splendor. Students from city schools participated in Inter School Declamation Contest, Science Model Exhibition and Science Quiz which was organized in highly technical ways in four rounds.

The team of Nankana Saheb Public School emerged as the overall winner and grabbed the running trophy along with a cash prize of Rs.3500/-. Participating teams of BCM Arya Model, Shastri Nagar and Sant Ishar Singh Ji Memorial Public School outshone as the First and Second runner ups and received cash prize of Rs.2500/- and Rs.2000/- respectively.

To teach the lessons of self- reliance, button tucking & shoe-Lacing activity was organized for the students of LKG & UKG. First of all teachers gave the demonstration and later on students were asked to do the same while following the stepwise instructions of the class teacher.

To create the festive ambience in school premises, a plethora of activities was organized for the students of classes I to V. The activities were organized as under.

Class III: - Paper Lantern

Class IV – V Inter House Rangoli Competition, Anti Cracker RallyChildren participated in all the activities enthusiastically. Vibrant colours of Rangoli emerged as expression of joy and happiness. Students of classes IV & V took out an Anti-Cracker Rally to spread word not to burst crackers and to celebrate Diwali with candles, sweets and non-polluting green crackers. They also took the pledge for the same.

BCM kindergarten Chandigarh Road organised Sandwich Making Activity for UKG kids. Students brought bread slices, salad, butter and jam etc. from their homes. Apart from learning the skill of making a sandwich the children also learnt the chapter of self –reliance. It was a novel and good learning experience for the young ones.

Under the ‘Tu Mera Buddy’ campaign, initiated by Punjab government, Slogan writing activity was conducted in the middle wing. In which students actively participated to highlight the ill effects of drugs. They showed their determination to create awareness among the students regarding the growing menace of Drug Abuse/ Addiction and protective measures to curb its influence at personal and collective level.

World Food Day is a day of action dedicated to tackling global hunger. World Food Day was established in honour of the founding date of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Launched in 1945. The theme of this year is “Our Actions are our Future” and Healthy Diets for a “Zero Hunger World”. To sensitize students about the importance of food, a power Point Presentation on ‘Stop Food Wastage’ was shown. Health Club Members went in different classes to tell students about the importance of this day and Healthy Diet.

The festival of Diwali was celebrated in BCM Kindergarten Chandigarh Road with great enthusiasm. The children attired in colorful attires added vitality to the day. The little BCMites hailed  Deepwali by enthusiastically taking part in diya & candle decoration activity planned for the day.  The teachers also told the students about the relevance of this festival & advised them to have green & safe Diwali. The Principal, Mr. D.P. Guleria wished them a happy and safe Diwali.

G.K QUIZ || UKG ||

To stimulate the knowledge and to foster a healthy competition among the little BCMites, BCM Kindergarten Chandigarh Road organized a ‘Quiz Contest’ for the students of UKG class. The four teams comprising of 3 students each duly titled Mind Bogglers, Bright Sparks, Master minds, Quiz Magicians competed with each other. The quiz was divided in 7 rounds i.e. General Awareness, Whose Who, Audio-visual Round, Around the World etc.  They tried to outperform each other to become the winners. The audience comprising of parents were elated to see their child’s performance.  Certificates were given to the winners and books were given as souvenirs to the participants. Principal D.P. Guleria appreciated the efforts of the teachers and students.

BRITISH COUNCIL ACTIVITY : NATURAL RESOURCES & VEGETATION II MIDDLE WING II

‘An Expert’s Lecture’ under British Council Activity was organized on the topic ‘Natural resources and Vegetation’, in the Middle wing. The expert, Ms. Pushpa Angrish (TGT-Social Studies), familiarized the students of class VI with Natural resources and vegetation in India, Canada and Nigeria with the help of PowerPoint Presentation. Students’ previous knowledge was assessed during ‘Brain Storming’ session which was followed by lecture session wherein they were provided ample information about different types of natural resources & their importance, human made resources & their proper use, and natural vegetation in the countries understudy. The young minds were also encouraged to take care and conserve them. They took it as their responsibility to avoid wastage of our natural resources.

DANCE COMPETITION || LKG ||

The liitleBCMites of LKG were thrilled to be a part of vibrant and energizing Solo Dance Competition organized on October 16,2019.     Almost 20 shortlisted students took part in the final round of the competition while giving a tough challenge to each other. Participants came in colorful attires and swayed & tapped on  the melodious tunes. The audience comprising of the parents of the participants was left spellbound with the energetic moves of the contestants. The winners of the competition were given certificates and books were given as souvenir to the participants. Principal Mr. D.P. Guleria appreciated the efforts of the students.

These golden words of Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam have inspired thousands of youngsters in our nation. The students of BCM School Chandigarh Road are not an exception. The enthusiasm of the students of middle wing was revealed in their celebration of Dr. Kalam’s birthday. They wrote his biography describing not only his life history but also his achievements and ideals in the betterment of Nation and also the most popular Ten Commandments. Principal Mr. D.P. Guleria motivated students to take inspiration from such personalities as it will help them to shape their future in a better way.

International Girl Child Day Celebrated

International Girl Child Day celebrated

October 11 is celebrated as “International Girl Child Day’ since 2012. It is celebrated to call attention towards the different issues faced by the girls under 18 years of age. The main goal of celebrating the day is to help every girl child in the world have the same rights of education, nutrition, medical care etc. To make the students aware of the day and its importance various activities were conducted. The day started with a special Morning Assembly which included PPT, Song, Speech and Thoughts on the significance of the day. Various other activities and competitions marked the day. In class IV a ‘Poster making competition’ and in class V a ‘Poem Recitation competition’ was organized. An Inter House Hindi Declamation on the theme ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ was conducted in classes VI to VIII wherein Sutlej House emerged as winner. Students conveyed a message to save girl child to save humanity through beautiful posters and heart touching poems and speeches.

To keep the festive spirit alive BCM Kindergarten celebrated Dussehra with great enthusiasm and energy. Students enthusiastically took part in different activities organized for the day i.e. kids of UKG drew picture of Ravana, bow & arrow and filled colors in the drawn pictures & the students of Nursery and LKG made the images of Ravana by cutting and pasting the colored papers. Principal Mr. D.P. Guleria appreciated the efforts of students and conveyed that this festival comes with an edifying message of the victory of good over evil.

WORLD ANIMAL DAY CELEBRATED ||KG ||

The greatness of a nation & its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated _ Mahatma Gandhi.

‘World Animal Day’ was celebrated in BCM Kindergarten Chandigarh Road on 4th October 2019. BCMites enthusiastically took part in different activities planned for the day. Students of UKG narrated stories based on the theme ‘Love animals & Save animals’. LKG students brought their favourite toy animal from their homes and spoke some sentences on it. Nur. Students expressed their love for animals  by wearing the masks of their favourite animals and also made collage by the picture of the animals whom they love the most. Principal Mr D.P. Guleria appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers and opined that taking care of animals is not just an ethical obligation for man rather necessity for his survival.

WORLD ANIMAL DAY II MIDDLE WING II

World Animal Day is celebrated across the world on 4th October, first started in 1931 at a convention of ecologist in Florence, Italy. The purpose of World Animal Day was to highlight the predicament faced by endangered species. The Eco Club celebrated this day with great enthusiasm to make children aware about the difficulties faced by these endearing creatures. They threw light on the difficulties faced by animals and ways to improve their condition and also to save the endangered species. Principal Mr. D.P. Guleria emphasized that Animals play a diverse array of role in our lives. They not only provide support and enrich our lives but also give companionship and make us better human beings.

GANDHI JAYANTI CELEBRATED || KG ||

TO commemorate the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi –the father of nation, different activities were organized in BCM Kindergarten Chandigarh Road. The students of Nursery made spinning wheel using ice-cream sticks and stickers. Kids of LKG & UKG drew and coloured the picture on the theme ‘Swatch Bharat ‘. The teachers also invoked the little BCMites to keep the surroundings neat & clean.

‘KATRAN’-BEST OUT OF WASTE

Students of class IX Harman,Gurleen,Garima,Harshita and Shreya  brought laurels to the school by participating in  Katran-Best out of waste competition  in which they got II Position  out of 250  students from different renowned schools of the city  which was organised at Ryan International School Ludhiana.

INTER HOUSE STORY TELLING COMPETITION || PRIMARY WING ||

For every child story telling is a beginning towards appreciation of literature and building up vocabulary besides acquiring education. Stories are but a window to moral principles which help children to develop their own ethical values. To incite curiosity and the love for reading stories among children, a story telling competition was held for classes IV and V as part of Inter House Activity. First round was conducted by the class in charges. One best student from each house from every class was selected from second round. House mentors conducted the second round and selected one student from each class of their respective house for the final round. Finalists prepared stories based on moral values. They presented the stories beautifully with their gestures, voice modulation and different props. The judgement was done on the basis of theme, confidence, presentation and fluency.

SWACHHTA HI SEWA CAMPAIGN AT BCM SCHOOL

As per the guidelines of CBSE, to observe Swachhta hi Sewa Campaign launched by Hon'ble Prime Minister BCM School, Chandigarh Road organized a plethora of activities. Students took Shramdaan by collecting the biodegradable & non-biodegradable waste in and around the school campus, which was further sent for recycling. Taking an active approach against the use of plastic, "An Expert's Lecture" was organised in which students were acquainted with the use and reuse of plastic, types of pollutions caused by plastic and how to manage the plastic waste with the help of a PPT and videos. The young learners exhibited the spirit of going against the plastic in ‘Debate’ on the topic "Plastic is boon or bane". The students manifested their arguments over the blessings and curse of plastic to mankind. Thereafter, the students conceptualised their gained knowledge about plastic in activity "Model Making" which highlighted the harmful effects of single use of plastic and its alternatives.  The students also wrote different messages using different calligraphic styles and spread awareness about the harmful effects of plastic in ‘Slogan Writing’ activity. To sensitize the students of Primary Wing about the need and importance of personal hygiene and sanitation, a PPT was showcased by the students of class XI & XII, in which they demonstrated how to take care of body parts. Two skits highlighting the important role played by the sweepers and IV class employees of the school were also presented which made the students realize their responsibility to keep the surroundings clean. Swachhta logo has been displayed at different venues inside the school campus to promote a high degree of awareness with messages against Single Use Plastic.

CLEANLINESS DRIVE (SWACHHATA PAKHWADA)

As per the initiative taken by CBSE ( Cleanliness Drive for Swachh Bharat- Swachhata Pakhwada), students of class III were sensitized for ‘ Personal Hygiene’. Students from classes XI and XII explained the importance of personal hygiene and keeping the surroundings clean through PPTs and short skits. Ways to maintain personal hygiene were also illustrated. Students were also motivated to keep their classrooms clean. They were also made aware about their responsibility to keep the surroundings neat and clean. Students also took a pledge to keep their environment neat, clean and healthy.
