FELICITATION CEREMONY ORGANIZED AT BCM SCHOOL

Education and academic competitions are two most important ingredients of human life. Competitions at an educational institution target to increase students’ efficiency. These events are a part and parcel of schools for the holistic development of the students.  BCM School, Chd. Road organized felicitation ceremony to honour the achievers of District level, LSSC, Hubs of Learning & other inter school competitions. The ceremony started with the School Principal honouring the achievers  who have proved their potential by bringing laurels to the school. In past two months BCMites proved themselves a step ahead than others by bagging various prizes in different LSSC Competitions and Inter School Competitions. Participants of various competitions who were hounoured were Winners of District Yoga championship, Swimming Championship, LSSC Volley Ball, Turf- 2022, Hubs of Learning, G.S. Memorial and many more. On behalf of all the Achievers, School captain Raghav thanked School management and Principal Sir for giving them opportunity to showcase their talent and uncover personal capacity. At the end, School Principal congratulated all the achievers for their exemplary performance in different events. He exhorted others to work hard and shine in the same manner.

5th North India Ashihara Karate Championship

Nishta of III C participated in 5th North India Ashihara Karate Championship organized by Karayat Defence Academy held at Perfect Public Sr. Sec.  School and won first prize. She received a gold medal and a certificate for the same.

CBSE EXPRESSION SERIES

As part of the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM), CBSE announces the second Expression Series for the session 2022-23. Students made posters on the theme ‘How would I promote tourism in my city/town?’ Later on entry of Kiratpreet Kaur of Class VIII-F was selected and sent to CBSE for the next round of Competition. She also got the participation certificate for the same.

World Food Day Celebration.

We constantly seek new and innovative approaches to promote students engagement in a way to bring about positive change .
As a part of this endeavor Secondary Wing of BCM School Chandigarh Road organised Poster Making Competition on the theme" leave no one behind" and "A Talk Show "on the topic healthy eating habits, for the students of classes 9th and 10th. The day promotes Global awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure and the diets for all.

Celebration of Birth Anniversary of APJ Abdul Kalam .

As a mark of respect to the former President and Missile man of India APJ Abdul Kalam's birth anniversary was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the secondary Wing of BCM School Chd. Rd, Ldh. a poster making competition was organised for the students of classes IX and X. Young learners expressed their ideas on various topics like scientific symbols, eminent scientist, quotations and Science based diagrams. The students thoroughly enjoyed the activity.

GS MEMORIAL INTER SCHOOL MEGA EVENT

Jesus Sacred Heart Convent School organized G.S. Memorial- Inter School Mega Event. Bcmites from Classes 1st  to 10th participated in it and brought laurels to schools by winning various competitions. School also bagged 2nd Runner up trophy for its overwhelming performance in various competitions. Result for the same is as follows:

•   Under 12 cricket team comprising Nitish, Swastik, Gurshan, Mehul, Jappan, Harshank, Dhruv, Jasnoor, Prajwal, Kavyansh, Aarush, Naved, Aarnav, Adhiraj bagged Gold medal

•   Udhriti, Gurnoor, Piyush, Divisha, Kiratpreet & Varsha of class VIII bagged first position in Art Expo

•   Stuti Mahajan & Roshni Farvaha of class V bagged first position in Lippan Art

•   Harshita of Class VII became 1st runner up in writing and reciting

•   Khanak, Aryan, Harshit, Yuvraj, Naved, Khanish, Bhavishy of class VI became 2nd runner up in Curtain Call

•   Simarpreet, Elina, Kritisha, Shrishta, Prisha, Harjot of class IX became 2nd runner up in Group symposium

•   Balkirat Singh & Jasmine of class VII got appreciation in Be a Rockstar

•   22 students from classes VI to VIII got appreciation in folk dance.

•   Jaibir singh of class I got appreciation in Character Fantasy

•   Nishtha Sharma & Navya of class III got appreciation in Mirror decoration

PUNJAB KHED MELA- Volleyball tournament was organised by Punjab khed Mela in which Sukhman and Ashanpreet bagged first position. Abhinav of VII B also participated and bagged 2nd position.They all got selected for the district level as well.

Celebration of Hindi Diwas in BCM School, Chandigarh Road

Celebration of Hindi Diwas in BCM School, Chd. Road
 
On account of ‘Hindi Diwas’, Hindi Department of BCM School, Chd. Road organized various competitions for the students. BCMites rejoiced as they celebrated Hindi Diwas with enthusiasm and fervour to emphasize the importance of Official Language of our country. A special morning assembly was oraganized to mark the importance of the country’s most widely spoken language. Students of all blocks participated in a plethora of activities consisting of Doha Gayan, Achman Mantra Recitation, Kavita Gayan, Ramayan ki Chopayeeyan, Kahavton se Kahani, Doha Lekhan, Slogan Writing, Bhashan Pratiyogita, Biographies of authors and poets etc. Aradhya of class I and Reyansh of class II mesmerized the judges when they recited dohas written by Kabir ji and Tulsidas ji with confidence and beautiful expressions. Nandika of XI Arts A recited heart touching poem to show her love and respect for pride of our country “Hindi”. To make the event fun filled and interesting, there was a round of riddles and puzzles also. The event was an initiative to make the students respect and learn the importance of our official language – ‘Hindi’. Students from all the blocks participated in this event enthusiastically. Principal D P Guleria conveyed his wishes on this auspicious day by saying that Hindi is an unbreakable part of India's culture. Hindi has been a unifying force for the whole nation for centuries and we should protect it and respect it.

Awareness Session by BCMites on Balanced diet .

Following the guidelines of CBSE under the title Poshan Maah', an interaction session on the day of PTM, was held by secondary wing students  for students and their parents on 10.9.2022 with the view to spread the awareness about the balanced diet and various components that a balanced plate must include. 
In this, the parents were asked for the foodstuffs they usually have for their breakfast, lunch and  evening snack and the 
balanced meals, consisting of common Indian foodstuffs, and healthier alternatives to the junk food were suggested.

Awareness Session on Body safety rules- Good touch -Bad touch

Following the guidelines of CBSE and POCSO Act 2012, an awareness session was held for students of class 5. The objective of the session was to provide age appropriate awareness about sexual exploitation and safety steps to be followed in case of any undesirable and inappropriate situation. Students were also taught about gender equality and to respect the other gender.

BCM School Organized a Motivational Lecture.

An endeavor to impart motivation among the students, BCM School Organized a Motivational lecture for senior secondary students in the school auditorium. Acharya Vagish – A great philosopher and a thinker shared his views on the critical analysis by human mind. Mr. Suresh Munjal (trustee member BCM Foundation), Mrs. Monika Dua (Principal BCM College of Education), Mr. D.P. Guleria (Principal BCM School 32 sec.) were also present at the moment. Swami Vagish motivated the students to choose the path they love and gave tips to comprehend the difference between Information and knowledge. He cited lifelike examples for better understanding of the life skills. Also, he encouraged the students to follow the path of spirituality in the wake of Vedic Culture. At the end of the session an interaction round was conducted by him to satisfy the queries of the students.

Celebration of NATIONAL SPORTS DAY in BCM School, Chandigarh Road

National Sports Day is always celebrated in BCM School, Chandigarh Road with great zest and zeal. This year was no exception. Integrating Fit India Moment, initiated by Honourable Prime Minister Sh. Narinder Modi, in the celebration of National Sports Day, BCMites took out a rally to encourage public in large to take up sports and make it an integral part of their lives while emphasizing on the importance of being fit and healthy. Mr. D.P Guleria, school Principal flagged off the rally by giving a message to students that Sports is not just training, but it is a culture that needs to be promoted and there is no better place to do this than schools. A special morning assembly was conducted to make the students aware about the life history of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, whose birthday is celebrated as National Sports Day. Students were encouraged to make games & sports an integral part of their life. Inter House Sports Quiz and Fit BCM Quiz were organized for the students of different blocks. Sutlej House emerged as winner of Inter House Sports Quiz. Students of Primary Block also participated in Intra Class Chess Competitions. They also enjoyed fun games in the classes. Class V students penned down the life history of Major Dhyanchand through colorful bio-sketches. All the students participated in these activities with full enthusiasm & vigor. The main motto of these activities was to raise awareness about the values of sports: discipline, perseverance, sportsman spirit and teamwork.

SCIENCE WIZ KID II MIDDLE WING II

“ The art and science of asking questions is the source of all knowledge.”

BCM School Chandigarh Road organised Inter house Science Wiz Kid for the students of middle wing. Students enthusiastically participated in the first round wherein their basic knowledge was checked. Later on shortlisted participants were adjudged by the house mentors for the selection of final round. Students were scrutinised on the basis of their knowledge. 3 students from each house participated in final round where in their knowledge was tested in various rounds like riddles, trivia, picture & rapid fire. Beas House comprising Arpit Goyal of VIII F, Nishant Bhatt of VII C & Aarush of VI C bagged first position. Principal D P Guleria motivated the students to keep on enhancing their knowledge by participating in such activities.

"BHASHA SANGAM" Celebrating the Linguistic Diversity of India

The department of school education and literacy has initiated "Bhasha Sangam" a celebration of linguistic diversity under the program"Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat" which marks the appreciation of the unique Symphony of languages of our country. To familiarise the students with simple dialogues in all the 22 languages under schedule VIII of the constitution of India, different activities were conducted from August 24 to 27.  Students participated in these activities enthusiastically and learnt to respect linguistic diversity of our nation.

BCM School Chandigarh Road Organises Career Guidance Session

With an objective to guide the students about various latest treding careers and help the students in making right career choice after school, BCM School Chandigarh Road Ludhiana organised a career guidance session for the students of class IX & XI on August 24, 2022 in school auditorium in which Mr Prabal Moudgil from Wonder School Chandigarh highlighted many unexplored  career options  and told about world class colleges & universities.He conducted many activities, cited examples and narrated stories to bring home the idea of choosing right career for joyful, satisfactory and prosperous life.The students asked questions during query session.

The Principal of the school Mr DP Guleria     suggested the students to remain cautious while making career choices and thanked the resource person for the valuable guidance given to the students.

Students from classes III to XII participated in Decorous Art Festival - 2022. In this Inter School Event Japleen Kaur of VII C and  Radhika SIngla of VII G bagged Ist position in 3D Dangler Competition and Rachit of class III C got IInd prize in Mask Making Competition. SHLOKA ENCHANTMENT COMPETITION

A shloka enchantment Competition was organised by USPC Jain School under Hub of learning activity on August 22. Laksh Jain of class IV and Harleen Kaur of class II brought laurels to school by bagging 1st and 2nd position respectively. Harleen Kaur was also given a special prize for her confidence.

WINNER OF SOF OLYMPIAD

Olympiads help students to find their weaknesses and strengths to work on. A good number of students from BCM School Chandigarh Road participated in the SOF Olympiads. Vaishnavi Mehta of Class VI D outshone the other participants and secured 2nd International Rank by scoring 59/ 60 in International English Olympiad (IEO). She was awarded with a silver medal & a Gift voucher of 1000 rupees. She is also awarded with Medal of Distinction for securing 16th Zonal rank in National Science Olympiad (NSO) and Medal of excellence for securing 1st school rank in International Maths Olympiad (IMO). Principal D.P. Guleria congratulated them for their great achievement and motivated others also to stretch their limits to achieve new heights.

KRISHNA JANAMASHTAMI CELEBRATION

Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with full fervor at BCM School, Chd. Rd. 

‘Sweeter than honey, tastier than curd, pleasanter indeed than any happiness and joy is the company, is the power of the name of Krishna’

To seek the blessings of Lord Krishna, Janmashtami was celebrated by Students of BCM School, Chandigarh road with mirth and joy. The day indicates excitement, euphoria and a joyous spirit of enthrallment. To celebrate the extraordinary bond between man and the Almighty, students took the opportunity to participate in a plethora of activities. BCMites from classes I to X participated in flute & poster decoration, crown making, poster decoration of Lord Krishna, Geeta Saar writing, rangoli making , mono acting, colourful Matki decorations etc. The spirit of festivity was enhanced in a special morning assembly in which students sang melodious bhajans, danced on the tunes of flute and enacted Krishna leela. They also discussed the importance of The Geeta in present scenario. The purpose of the flamboyant celebration was to inculcate value of sharing and respect in the students.

School Principal D.P. Guleria blessed all the students on this auspicious day and gave them the message to look ahead instead of reminiscing in the past.

AAZADI KA AMRUT MAHOTSAVA

BCM School Chandigarh Road celebrated 76 th Independence Day of the nation with much aplomb. The saffron, white and green balloons soaring up in the sky spread the message of patriotism and unity. The Chief Guest of the event, Brigadier Mastinder Singh SM (retired after 34 years of service) unfurled the tricolor and received guard of honour by NCC cadets
who marched past in an outstanding parade.

Manager Dr. Prem Kumar and Principal Shri D.P. Guleria escorted the Chief Guest for flag hoisting and thereafter recitation of national anthem.

A kaleidoscopic cultural extravaganza was presented by the students including a heart touching choreography depicting soldiers’ life and poem by Deepika of Class 11. The flexibility and melody of the children in Yoga performance mesmerized the audience.

The Chief Guest in his address said that first of all we should bow down to freedom fighters that put everything at stake to make this country free. Wishing everyone a Happy Independence Day, he said that unity in diversity means a lot.

Dr. Prem Kumar said that this generation is fortunate that they are born in a free India and they are saved from horrors of freedom struggle and partition. Now it is our responsibility not to repeat the mistakes made in history safe guard nation’s freedom.

Principal Shri D.P. Guleria while wishing all the guests on Independence Day said that children are the future of the country; they will take the country to new heights by carrying forward the glorious traditions of our country. The grand celebration concluded with vote of thanks, reciting national anthem and distribution of sweets among staff & students.

Independence Day

We celebrate Independence Day on August 15 every year but this year we commemorated 75 glorious years of Independence as “75 Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Students were wrapped up in fervor of patriotism when they participated in a plethora of activities. Students of class I and II recited Patriotic Poems depicting true meaning of freedom. A “Role Play Competition” was conducted for the students of class III to V. Students enacted as different freedom fighters and bring them alive with their powerful presentations. Students also learn to draw national symbols and Flag hoisting scene. Students were made aware about the significance our freedom and Unity in Diversity of our country.

BCM School organised an interactive session for the students of Medical stream. BCM alumni Dr. Ridhima and Dr. Dewakshi Thakur were the guest speakers. Dr. Ridhima Gandhi cleared the myths of students about medical stream and guided them to balance the studies and routine life. She give tips on time management and stress management. Dr. Dewakshi Thahkur discussed various career options in medical stream other than MBBS, BAMS, BHMS and BDS stc. The guest speaker took up the students queries at the end of the session. It was very informative and motivating session for the students.

BCMites celebrated Teej with great zeal

Students of BCM School, Chandigarh Road celebrated Teej with glee and euphoria. The festival is celebrated to mark the bounty of nature, arrival of rain and greenery surrounded by wonderful social activities. Clad in traditional Punjabi attires, students of classes VI to X danced to the tunes of traditional Punjabi songs and enthralled everyone with their captivating performances. Students also participated in singing competition in which they sang folk songs of Punjab comprising boliyan and tappe and mesmerised the audience with their melodious voice. Principal D P Guleria wished the students on the occasion.
