Ideathon - An Inter-BCM Competition

BCM School, Chandigarh Road, organized a Ideathon an Inter-BCM competition, showcasing the creativity and innovation of its students. The event featured two exciting competitions: Quantix and BizVision Expo.
 
In Quantix, students presented impressive models, demonstrating their scientific acumen and problem-solving skills. BisVision Expo witnessed innovative business ideas, prototypes, and presentations, highlighting the entrepreneurial spirit of the participants.
 
Esteemed jury members, including Ms.Kusumlata A National Awardee, Dr. Jasdeep, Mr. Shiven Das, and Mr. Bhupesh Sharma, evaluated the projects, providing valuable feedback and insights.
 
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where the Principal of the school Mr D P Guleria expressed pride in the students' achievements, encouraging them to continue exploring and innovating. A video showcasing the event's highlights was also presented.

Ek Ped Maa ke Naam- BCM School’s Green Tribute

BCM School, Chandigarh Road, organized an inspiring event under the campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” led by the Eco Club to promote environmental sustainability and honor motherhood.
 
The program included a welcome dance, play, documentary, and presentations on environmental conservation. Chief Guest Rajesh Gulati, District Forest Officer, appreciated the initiative and shared that planting a tree in a mother’s name builds a lasting bond between nature and motherhood. The Forest Department donated saplings, and nearly 300 mothers were honored with saplings as a symbol of love and care.
 
Principal D.P. Guleria thanked the Chief Guest, participants, and teachers, appreciating the students’ efforts. The event beautifully combined respect for mothers with responsibility towards nature.

"Design Disha 2025"

BCM School, Chandigarh Road, in collaboration with the Unitedworld Institute of Design (UID), Ahmedabad, successfully hosted Design Disha 2025 on August 22—a dynamic Open House event introducing senior secondary students to creative career paths in design. In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the event featured hands-on, activity-based workshops conducted by UID experts Prof. Ankur Gulati, Dr. Amir Nayar, Dr. Tapash, Prof. Tushar, and Mr. Manmeet. Students participated enthusiastically in interactive sessions and showcased their creativity through an art exhibition and product design challenge. Winners in the art category included Sidharth (BVM Kitchlu Nagar), Pranay (Ryan International), and Prabhjot (BCM Chandigarh Road), while Parineeta (BCM Basant Avenue) and Chahat Sharma (BCM Chandigarh Road) were recognized for excellence in product design. Principal D.P. Guleria applauded the efforts and creativity of the students, appreciating their active participation and enthusiasm throughout the event. Dr. Prem Kumar, Executive Director of BCM Foundation, highlighted the growing importance of design as a future-ready career and encouraged students to embrace innovation and pursue their creative passions. Upneet Kaur, BCM School Representative, called the event “an inspiring display of creativity and curiosity” and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to providing meaningful exposure to emerging career opportunities.

79th Independence Day

BCM School, Chandigarh Road, celebrated India's 79th Independence Day with unmatched patriotic fervor, bringing together students, staff, and parents in a vibrant tribute to the nation. In line with this year’s theme, ‘Naya Bharat’, the celebrations highlighted the nation’s steady rise as a prosperous, secure, and confident India, and reaffirmed its resolve to move forward on the path of progress.

The event commenced with a dignified Guard of Honour by the school band and the ceremonial Flag Hoisting by the Principal DP Guleria and distinguished guests, including Dr. Monika Dua, Principal BCM College of Education, Vice Principal Ms. Manju Bhatti and BCM Alumna Major Mary Gharu; followed by the release of tricolour balloons, symbolizing India's aspirations soaring to new heights. A disciplined parade by contingents from all four houses and NCC Cadets, led by the spirited school band, set the tone for the day's celebrations.
The cultural showcase featured Nrityanjali, a graceful classical dance tribute, soulful patriotic songs, and a captivating yoga performance. Principal D.P. Guleria presented a heartfelt tribute to freedom fighters, our soldiers guarding the nation and appreciated everyone who is dedicatedly working for the nation. He also invoked the gathering to uphold the ideals of unity, integrity, and service to the nation. 
In an inspiring address, Major Gharu shared her experiences of journey from a student to a decorated servicing officer in Indian Army. She encouraged students to learn as much as they can, be grateful to parents and teachers, dream big and work hard to achieve their goals. 
The festivities concluded with Cultural Cadence, a grand artistic finale, and a heartfelt vote of thanks by the Vice Principal Ms. Manju Bhatti. 
The day not only honored India's rich legacy but also ignited the spirit of patriotism in the hearts of the young generation.

CBSE Cluster 18 Basketball Tournament Concludes With Prize Distribution for Boys

BCM School Chandigarh Road successfully concluded CBSE Cluster 18 Basketball Tournament being hosted from 1-6 August with declaration of results for Boys. The tournament saw enthusiastic participation from 98 schools across Punjab and Jammu competing in the Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19 categories.

The tournament concluded with a prize distribution ceremony for boys that celebrated the spirit of sportsmanship. The ceremony commenced with a formal welcome of guests. Principal DP Guleria presented saplings to the Chief Guest Shri Suresh Chandra Munjal, Trustee, BCM Foundation and Madam Nutan Bhalla, Deputy Secretary and Observer CBSE. Madam Nutan in her brief address expressed her delight over the hospitality of Ludhiana and love for sports among people of Punjab. Students presented a melodious welcome song followed by an inspiring address by the Principal. He is motivated to have passion , compassion and willingness to walk an extra mile to achieve success. In a video showcasing highlights from the tournament, Gujarati folk dance added charm and vibrant cultural elements to the event. 

The ceremony was also graced by Manager Dr. Prem Kumar, Dr. Anuradha, Principles of Sister Concerns, parents and teachers. Dr. Prem in his insightful address commented that only when each one of us is sincere in our duties, the nation can rise to greatness. The school extends its gratitude to all participants, coaches, officials, and volunteers for making the event a resounding success.

Grand Prize Distribution for CBSE Cluster XVIII Basketball Tournament GIRLS

The CBSE Cluster XVIII Basketball Tournament for Girls, hosted by BCM School Chandigarh Road, concluded today with a spectacular prize distribution ceremony held at the Mata Thakur Devi Hall. The event celebrated the outstanding achievements of young female athletes from various schools, following intense matches played from August 1st to August 3rd.

The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome from Principal D.P. Guleria, who graciously greeted the CBSE Observer and all participating teams along with their dedicated mentors. Principal Guleria extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the winners, acknowledging their hard work and sportsmanship.

Adding a vibrant cultural touch to the ceremony, students presented a captivating Punjabi Folk Dance, enthralling the audience with their energetic performance.

BCM School Inaugurates CBSE Cluster XVIII Basketball Tournament with Grandeur

 BCM School, Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana, proudly commenced the much-anticipated CBSE Cluster XVIII Basketball Tournament 2025 today, August 1st, with a spectacular opening ceremony. The tournament, running until August 6th, welcomes an impressive 120 teams from across Punjab and Jammu. Principal DP Guleria welcomed all the guests, Principals from sister concerns, Members from Management and participating teams along with their mentors. He also extended good wishes to all exclaiming that such events enhance spirit of comraderie.  

The dignified ceremony began with a Triumphant Entry and Guard of Honour, followed by a warm welcome to all distinguished guests, including Chief Guest, Arjuna Awardee S. Sajjan Singh Cheema and Mr. Gaurav Munjal Trustee BCM Foundation the Guest of Honour. The Flag Hoisting and an address by the Principal emphasized the role of sports in fostering discipline and character. Sh.Suresh Chandra Munjal Trustee BCM Foundation also graced the occasion with his presence.

Highlights included a spectacular March Past by participating teams, a Solemn Oath taken by captains, and a symbolic Torch Relay. A vibrant Cultural Extravaganza showcased BCM students' artistic flair. The Chief Guest delivered a motivational speech, officially declaring the tournament open.

The ceremony reached its symbolic peak with the release of balloons, signifying the soaring aspirations of young athletes, before the first thrilling basketball match tipped off. Vice Principal Ms. Manju Bhatti extended gratitude to all whose relentless efforts ensured the event's success.

With 120 teams set to compete, the tournament promises a thrilling celebration of athletic excellence, sportsmanship, and unity, reinforcing BCM School's commitment to nurturing talent and promoting holistic education.

Youth Parliament Session 2025

BCM School hosted Youth Parliament 2025, a dynamic platform where young delegates debated “Secularism in Contemporary India: Balancing Faith, Equality, and Governance.” The event saw thought-provoking discussions on taxation of temples and gurdwaras and religious conversions, alongside powerful opening statements from leaders portrayed by students, setting the stage for intense deliberations.
 
The highlight was a crisis simulation tackling the Tibetan Succession standoff and an economic meltdown, testing participants’ decision-making under pressure. The press team, led by Pankhuri and Disha, impressed with sharp questioning and professionalism.

Inter-House Basketball Tournament

BCM School, Chandigarh Road, successfully organized an Inter-House Basketball Tournament for students of classes IX-XII on July 19, 2025. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from all four houses – Beas, Ravi, Sutlej, and Yamuna – showcasing high levels of sportsmanship, team spirit, and competitive energy. Yamuna House (boys) and Ravi House (girls) emerged as winners, while Beas House (boys) and Satluj House (girls) were first runners-up. The Principal appreciated the efforts of all players, encouraging students to continue participating in sports for their overall development.

International Yoga Day Celebrated at BCM School

On June 21st, BCM School, Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana, came alive with the spirit of yoga as students, teachers, and parents gathered to celebrate International Yoga Day. Under the inspiring guidance of Principal Mr. D.P. Guleria, the school organized a special yoga camp in the auditorium, where everyone joined hands to embrace the ancient practice.

Ms. Angel, a proud alumna of the school and a qualified yoga practitioner, led the session with warmth and expertise. With Mr. Vipul's expert supervision, she guided the participants through a series of yoga asanas, breathing exercises, and meditation practices that left everyone feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

As the sun rose over the city, the school's auditorium transformed into a tranquil oasis, where participants let go of their worries and connected with their inner selves. The one-hour session, which began at 7:30 AM, was a perfect blend of physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation practices that not only improved flexibility but also fostered inner peace and concentration.

Parents beamed with pride as they witnessed their children embracing yoga with enthusiasm. Many expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the school for promoting health, mindfulness, and overall wellness through such meaningful activities.

As the session concluded, the participants came together to take a collective pledge to adopt a healthy and balanced lifestyle. It was a truly uplifting experience that left everyone feeling inspired and motivated to make yoga a part of their daily lives.

Inter Section Role Play Competition– “Insects: Nature’s Little Helpers” Classes: I and II

To foster creativity, environmental awareness, and public speaking skills among young learners, a Role Play Competition on the theme “Insects: Nature’s Little Helpers” was organized for students of Class I and II.

The students enthusiastically participated, dressing up as various insects such as bees, butterflies, ants, ladybugs, grasshoppers, and spiders. Each child came prepared with a few lines describing the insect they were portraying – highlighting its unique features, habitat, importance, and role in nature.

An Inter-House Poem Recitation Competition was organized for the students of classes IV and V with great enthusiasm and participation. The event celebrated the profound themes of Mother and Mother Earth, aiming to instill a sense of gratitude and awareness among students.

Students from all house participated in the competition, reciting poems that expressed deep love, reverence, and concern for both their mothers and the planet. Each participant showcased their talent through expressive recitations, voice modulation, and emotional depth.

The judges evaluated the participants based on clarity, expression, confidence, and relevance to the theme. The event highlighted not only poetic talent but also the students’ awareness and emotional connection with the themes.

The competition concluded with a message of love, respect, and responsibility towards both mothers and Earth.

First Aid Demonstration by Health Club Members

On the occasion of World Health Day, the Health Club organized an engaging and educational event in which members enacted first aid responses to various emergency situations. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of quick and correct first aid interventions.

Club members simulated scenarios including fainting, bleeding, fractures, burns, choking and insect bite. Each situation was followed by a live demonstration of appropriate first aid techniques. 

These enactments were both informative and realistic, emphasizing the critical role of calm thinking and immediate action during emergencies.

The event concluded with a brief Q&A session.

Under-19 Boys Volleyball Tournament

BCM School, Sector 32-A, hosted the Inter BCM Under-19 Boys Volleyball Tournament on April 30, 2025, bringing together spirited teams from BCM Sector 32, BCM Basant Avenue ,Dugri, BCM Basant City, and BCM Focal Point.
 
The event commenced with a motivational address by Dr. Prem Kumar, Executive Director of BCM Foundation and Manager of  the school ,  followed by a balloon-releasing ceremony, rule briefing, and a symbolic thread-cutting to mark the start of the matches.
 
Held under the leadership of Principal Mr. D.P. Guleria and graced by Dean Academics Ms. Gurpreet Kaur Chandok along with other dignitaries, the one-day knockout tournament featured dynamic performances, reflecting skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
 
BCM Sector 32 clinched the championship title, while BCM Basant Avenue,Dugri and BCM  Basant City secured the first and second runner-up positions, respectively. Trophies and medals were presented in recognition of their outstanding efforts.

Tribute to Pahalgam victims

BCM School Chandigarh Road  held a special assembly in a heartfelt gesture of solidarity and remembrance  to pay tribute to the victims of the tragic incident in Pahalgam. Students, teachers, and staff took part to show their support and offer prayers for the victims and their families.
The students carried placards and banners conveying messages of peace and condolence. A two-minute silence was also observed to pay homage to the departed souls, creating a solemn and reflective atmosphere.
A hawan ceremony was performed as a spiritual offering, seeking prayers for peace to the souls of the victims and strength to their families. The school captain  delivered a condolence speech, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives and emphasizing the importance of unity, peace, and compassion in times of tragedy.
The school principal shared words of sympathy and reminded everyone to stay united and kind during difficult times. Students and teachers were urged to stand together against violence and uphold the values of humanity.

Orientation Session for Future Leadership Program

BCM School, Chandigarh Road, organized an orientation session for the parents of aspirants enrolled in the Future Leadership Program, a new initiative by the school aimed at nurturing leadership potential in students. The session took place in Mata Thakur Devi Hall  and witnessed the participation of parents of 50 selected students.
 
The occasion was graced by  the School Manager Mr. Prem Kumar, Principal Mr. D.P. Guleria, Dean Academics Ms. Gurpreet Chandok, along with the section coordinators. The session was led by Dean Academics Ms. Gurpreet Chandok, who elaborated on the vision and mission of the Future Leadership Program. She outlined the program structure, shared the expectations from the students, and emphasized the important role parents play in their children’s leadership journey.
 
Following the presentation, an interactive Q&A session was held to address parents' queries. The session concluded with a warm "Coffee with the Principal" interaction, encouraging open dialogue and strengthening the school-home partnership.

BCM Group Folk Dance Competition

The Inter BCM Group Folk Dance Competition, held on November 23, 2024, at BCM School, Chandigarh Road, in its Mata Thakur Devi Auditorium, was a remarkable celebration of cultural heritage. The event featured vibrant performances by participating schools, showcasing the rich traditions of the region and leaving the audience mesmerized.

The competition began with the ceremonial lamp lighting by Dr. Prem Kumar, Manager, and Mr. D.P. Guleria, Principal. In his opening address, Mr. Guleria emphasized the critical importance of preserving and promoting cultural heritage. He highlighted how such initiatives foster holistic development and underscore the significance of arts and culture in education.

The event was judged by an esteemed panel of experts: Ms. Shubhjeet Kaur, a Kathak exponent and international performer, and Ms. Gurpreet Kaur, HOD of Dance at Master Tara Singh College. Their insightful critiques elevated the competition, celebrating the diversity of India’s cultural tapestry.

Eco friendly Diwali celebration

The students of the BCM School Chandigarh Road celebrated Diwali with great pomp and show. The day started with a special assembly focusing on the theme of “Green Diwali, Clean Diwali.” Teachers emphasized the festival’s significance, representing the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil.

In addition to sharing the importance of these values, educators raised awareness about the harmful effects of firecrackers. Students of all blocks decorated classes and corridors with rangolis, diyas, posters and eco friendly danglers that created a vibrant atmosphere of joy and festivity. Later on, they shared different ways of celebrating this festival without polluting the environment.  

Principal DP Guleria emphasized and appealed to all to celebrate eco-friendly Diwali and buy only made in India products in order to uplift our economy and celebrate our rich cultural heritage.

We are thrilled to share highlights from our first Model United Nations (MUN) event, held for the Primary Wing. Our young delegates, from grades 4 and 5 embraced the challenge of tackling real-world issues and representing different countries in a collaborative, engaging environment.

"Swachhata Hi Seva" Campaign

 BCM School, Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana, successfully concluded its "Swachhata Hi Seva" campaign, a nationwide initiative aimed at promoting cleanliness and community service. The campaign stretched through the fortnight;  beginning on September 17 and shall continue till October 2, 2024 - the Birth Anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri and Gandhi Ji. NSS volunteers and students actively participated in various activities to make a positive impact on their surroundings.

A Show of Unity

The highlight of the campaign was a powerful human chain formed around the school, symbolizing the students' collective commitment to a cleaner environment. This visual representation showcased the unity and enthusiasm of the school community.

Rallying for a Cleaner Tomorrow

Led by Principal Mr. DP Guleria, Coordinator Madam Meenakshi Aggarwal, Activity Coordinator Ms Madhu Sharma, and NSS Officer Ms Kavita Tomar, a rally was organized to spread awareness about cleanliness. The rally traversed key locations, including the Sabzi Mandi, School of Eminence, and Govt Jachaa Bachcha Hospital.

Inspiring the Community

Armed with enthusiasm and placards, students shared the importance of cleanliness and encouraged the community to join the "Swachhata Hi Seva" initiative. Their energetic participation and inspiring messages left a lasting impression on the residents.

A Successful Endeavor

The campaign was a resounding success, demonstrating the unwavering dedication of BCM School's students and staff towards promoting a cleaner and healthier community. Principal Mr. DP Guleria expressed his pride in the students' efforts, stating, "Our students have shown remarkable enthusiasm and commitment to the cause. We will continue to inspire and educate them to become responsible citizens."

FASHION FLORA: A SPECTACULAR DISPLAY OF CREATIVITY

The Mata Thakur Devi Hall at BCM School Chandigarh Road was transformed into a vibrant platform for 56 talented young designers and models from 8 top schools in the city showcasing their unique creations at the annual 'Fashion Flora' inter-school fashion show.A distinguished panel of judges, including renowned fashion designers and
entrepreneurs Ms. Pooja Mago, Ms. Ginni Mander, and Ms. Neha Kansal, had
the challenging task of selecting the best designs and models from the
impressive array of talent. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Kishor Kumar Ladia, Director of Space Fashions Ltd., who served as the Chief Guest. Mr. Ladia lauded the students' efforts and encouraged them to pursue promising careers in the fashion industry. Mr. DP Guleria, Principal of BCM School, emphasized the schools
commitment to providing a holistic education that fosters artistic expression.
Fashion Flora is a testament to our students' creativity and ability to excel
beyond the classroom ; he stated. Dr. Prem Kumar, the Manager expressed confidence that this experience would enhance students' perception of the fashion world and open up new opportunities for them. His wife Dr. Anuradha, renowned psychologist
encouraged students to pursue their passion. The grand finale concluded with the announcement of the winners in each category: Best Collection- Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar, Best Model- Asmi Singh of BCM School Basant Avenue, Dugri, and Most Creative Costume- Amritveer Kaur of Guru Nanak Public School. The talented
participants were awarded trophies and certificates in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the world of fashion. Fashion Flora proved to be a captivating event of elegance, innovation, and youthful expression, showcasing the bright future of fashion design in the region.

National Sports Day

BCM School  Chandigarh  Road celebrated National Sports Day on August 29th in honor of the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. This day marked the birth anniversary of a sports icon whose extraordinary achievements on the field have brought immense pride to our nation.
The day was marked by a series of engaging and educational activities designed to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork.
The  students of BCM Foundational Stage kicked off the celebrations with enthusiasm. Nursery students delighted in a fun-filled activity called “Balance the Balloon,” which tested their balance and coordination.  LKG students actively participated in the Fun with  Numbers activity while the UKG children enjoyed an activity titled “ “Drag the Ball,” which added an element of excitement to their learning Students of 
class IV  showcased their creativity by preparing collages featuring Indian hockey players, highlighting the rich heritage of the sport. Class V students contributed to the day’s observance by composing detailed bio-sketches of Major Dhyan Chand, reflecting on his extraordinary career and contributions to hockey.
The celebrations also featured an Inter-House Sports Quiz, where Ravi House emerged as the victor, and Sutlej House secured the position of first runner-up. This competitive event not only fostered a sense of camaraderie but also underscored the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship.
Principal Mr. DP Guleria emphasized that these diverse activities were instrumental in enhancing the students' sportsmanship, coordination, and discipline. He commended the students for their enthusiastic participation and praised their efforts in making the day memorable.
Overall, the celebration of Major Dhyan Chand’s birthday as National Sports Day was a resounding success, reflecting the school’s commitment to nurturing both academic and sporting excellence.

3 days International Film festival begins at BCM School Chandigarh Road Ludhiana

A 3 days International Film festival begins at BCM School Chandigarh Road Ludhiana in which 20 films per day will be shown to parents , teachers and students of neighbouring schools . This is a cutting-edge educational initiative designed to support Social Emotional Learning (SEL), mental well-being, and life skills development in students. On this occasion Punjabi Cinema actress Ms. Pawan Johal who acted in web series and feature films like ""Rocky Mental," "Surkhi Bindi and many more was the chief guest. Mr. Manmeet Singh, Director of Institute of Moving Images Chandigarh graced the occasion as guest of Honour. The event commenced with a lamp lighting & welcome note by the school Principal DP Guleria, in which he highlighted the program's potential to revolutionize life skills education. Ms.Pawan Johal in her address emphasized that  cinema is the reflection of society. School Manager Dr.Prem Kumar declared the festival open for parents, teachers and students. Students showcased captivating mime performance that highlighted animal cruelty.  The event marked a significant milestone in the school’s commitment in providing holistic education and preparing students for the challenges of the future.

Harmony Day

The birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi, which falls on August 20, is celebrated each year as Sadbhavana Diwas. Rajiv Gandhi was India's prime minister from 1984 to 1989. This day, which translates to "Harmony Day," serves as a reminder of his vision for a prosperous, united, and peaceful India. In BCM school,
Students of NSS celebrated sadbhana diwas today by showing PPt ,self composed poem and a  play performance.
