To enrich the little BCMites with the invaluable asset of pleasing manners “Good Manners Week’’ was  celebrated for all the classes in the KG section of BCM. Children in this week learnt about helping others, obedience, sharing and caring, cleanliness of surroundings and importance of sorry, please and thank you. To make the learning of these invaluable values interesting, teachers narrated stories, showed different cartoon clippings and involved the kids in varied activities.

Report on ‘An Expert’s Lecture’( British Council)

After getting the accreditation from British Council successfully, the school continued the same track with great passion and fervor by conducting ‘An Expert’s Lecture’ on ‘Water: Soul of the Earth’ on 26 July 2018 in the activity Hall. Ms. Renu Bala (TGT- SST) acquainted the students of a few sections of classes VI and VII with water cycle, importance of water and rain gauge with the help of a PPT. She commenced the lecture with a Brain Storming Session by which she tested their previous knowledge about water .Thereafter, she equipped the students with the reasons, effects and preventions of flood and draught not only in India but also in Nigeria. She concluded the lecture with a pledge to save water. The same knowledge will be shared with our partner school in Nigeria.

Students of BCM, Chandigarh Road gave rich tribute to all the armed forces of India by celebrating Kargil Victory Day in school and again reminded everyone present there about the sacrifices done by Indian Armed forces while steadfastly keeping India safe. The Kargil Victory Day is celebrated all over India every year on 26th July in order to remember the courage, velour and supreme sacrifice Indian forces show cased in Operation Vijay, in which India won the crucial Kargil war in 1999, taking back charge of the outposts lost to Pakistan. Bcmites remembered Kargil War Heroes their courage and commitment. They paid tribute to the 527 martyrs of Kargil war who laid down their lives for the nation. The students of Grade-IV presented a beautiful assembly based on the victory of Kargil war. Life history of Kargil War Heroes was penned down through beautiful Bio- Sketches by class IV and V students. It was an interesting way of telling students to respect our forces that safe guard the country from internal and external exigency. It was done with a view to salute the real heroes of the Nation and inspire the students for a patriotic cause.

Clay Modeling helps to develop eye hand co-ordination. It not only provides children a lot of fun and excitement but also gives wings to their imagination. Keeping the same in mind KG Section of BCM School Sector- 32A Chandigarh Road organized an inter section Clay Modeling Competition  for the students of LKG on July 24, 2018. 20 students from different sections showed their skills in the art of clay modeling. The motive behind this competition was to stimulate the imagination of the children and enable them to give it a better shape. There was a lot of gaiety & enthusiasm among the participants.

In an earnest attempt to lend a green touch to the school environment and sensitize the students about their role in conserving it, Eco Club of BCM School, Chandigarh Road celebrated Van Mahotsav with great fervour on July 14.The celebration was an ideal opportunity to instil the value of social responsibility in the students towards safeguarding trees and forests. The focus of the celebration was towards forming a personal connect between the students and trees through a process of experience, reflection and creation, carried out through various activities. Members of Eco Club brought tree saplings and exchanged among themselves and pledged to take care of them. Children of class III mesmerized the judges with their beautiful and thought provoking poems on the importance of trees in a Poem Recitation competition.Class IV and V students participated in an Elocution competition on the topic “Bring alive the spirit to plants and save trees”. Students showcased their concern towards Mother Nature and the consequences of ruthless cutting of trees were also illustrated.The events helped to bring awareness about the green cover around us. It also helped in strengthening the bond between plants and humans. Students got to learn a lot and will always cherish the memories of this important occasion.

Colors are a beautiful and delightful way to convey and communicate emotions and symbolize ideas . To make the tiny tots understand the significance of color in our life BCM Kindergarten celebrated its color week from 21 to 26 May .E ach day new colors were introduced to the children .Nursery students , teachers dressed up in that particular color and enjoyed varoius  creative activities together. Eatables of the relevant color were brought by the tiny tots .Classrooms and  display  were turned up into the corresponding colors.

BCM School Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana organized an inter – house Talent Hunt for the classes III-VIII. Talent Hunt is an event which gives platform to students to represent their camouflaged prowess. Around 3000 students participated in it. The event included a plethora of activities like Declamation, Debate, Choreography, Classical Dance, Best out of waste, Instrument Playing, Poem Recitation, Singing, Painting, Mono Acting and Story Telling. All the participants exhibited unmatchable talent in all the events and above all, this event helped the children to evolve higher level of creativity, observation, self- expression and confidence. The audience was captivated by all the wonderful performances. Satluj House took the lead and lifted the Winning House tag in this event .The Principal blessed the students for showing excellent hidden talent and also motivated them to adopt the spirit of healthy competition.

To highlight the health risks associated with tobacco use, “World No Tobacco Day” , designated by the World Health Organization is observed every year on May 31. To generate awareness on this issue the Health Club took an initiative to explain the harmful effects of smoking and other tobacco products to the students. Students of class IV participated in a poster making competition in which they prepared though provoking posters. Students of class III participated in a Slogan writing competition through which they articulated their concern for the issue through different slogans.

1200 students of Middle Wing participated in Dainik Bhaskar Newspaper activity ‘Save Birds & Save Planet’. They brought different grains and water bowls which they kept in the school playground for the birds.The school Principal Mr. D.P.Guleria said that the students should strive to become good human beings. Further he appreciated the effort of Dainik Bhaskar newspaper for their different initiative.

BCM kindergarten celebrated ‘Founder’s Day’ on 24^th May with a special assembly to mark the 101^th birth anniversary of founder Mahatma  Satyanand  Munjal Ji. In the morning assembly students of UKG threw light on the vision, mission, achievements and life history of beloved Bauji. Kids also spoke ten rules of ‘Arya Samaj’  and performed Yajya Prathna.

The three days celebration of 101 birth anniversary of profound industrialist and founder of Arya Samaj BCM Chd. Road,Mahatma Satyanand Ji Munjal, started on 22 May 2018 at BCM School Chd. Road, Ludhiana with great fervor and zest.  More than 4000 students paid tribute to the great persona by partaking in auspicious Hawan Ceremony and Morning Assembly which rented the air with divinity and soulfulness. The musical extravaganza “Our alma Mater is a place to worship” was aligned the profound vision of Arya samaj to make our educational institute a temple of education.  In Hawan all the students took the pledge to imbibe the ten Rules of Arya Samaj in their life and they also promised to propagate the teachings of Arya Samaj to do good to the society. Various inter - school activities like Portrait Making & Greeting Card Making activities were apt for the occasion as the students got the opportunity to learn about his life and philanthropic vision. The young BCMites of class VI formed an enormous ‘OM’ in the school playground that was a different and unique way to pay tribute to the great visionary.Samriti of Class 7^th shared “We are grateful to Mahatama Ji and we promise that we will not leave any stone unturned to take our school to the zenith of success.”

The children enjoy the beauty of expression, thoughts, feelings, rhyme , rhythm and music of words. Taking all these facts into consideration the Kindergarten section of BCM school organized ‘English Rhyme Recitation’ for the students of LKG. This competition provided the children an opportunity to exhibit their talent and confidence. The participants chose a variety of topics for their recitation like ‘Save Nature’, Say no to ‘Polybags’, ‘Save Girl Child’, ‘Ten little fingers’ etc. The eye catching props made the performances of the contestants more colourful and vibrant. The parents of the participants acting as an audience appreciated the performers with their constant applauses. The winners were given certificates and the participants were given books as souvenirs.

To make the children responsible and teach the art of hospitality, a Tray Holding Activity was done for the students of LKG in the Activity Period. Children were taught how offer a glass of water and to hold a tray. Children really enjoyed this ‘Tray Holding Activity’ and felt confident.

May 22 is proclaimed as International day for Biological Diversity in order to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. Biodiversity is important to prevent some species from becoming extinct. If rapid climate change continues at the current rate, wildlife may not have time to adapt which could cause many animals to go extinct. To make the students aware about the term 'Biodiversity' a collage making competition was conducted for class IV and V on the topics “Diversity in Species " and “ Diversity in Landscapes.” In classes II and III  a “Best Out of Waste" Competition was also organized to make the students conscious about 3 R's 'Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’. Principal Sh. D.P. Guleria commended the efforts of students and inspired the students to contribute through their small efforts to save our planet and its Biodiversity.

To improve the communicative and descriptive skills of children a ‘Show and Tell competition’ was organized for UKG Class in the Kindergarten Section of BCM School on 17^th May 2018.22participants took part in the final round of the competition. Kids of UKG astonished the audience comprising of parents & teachers with their excellent performance. The participants exhibited immense confidence and extra-ordinary skills of articulation while speaking on the topics like Good Touch & Bad Touch, Save Nature, Save Girl Child, Solar system, Healthy food etc. The parents of the participants acting as an audience appreciated the performers with their constant applauses. The winners were awarded with certificates and the participants were given books as souvenirs. 

The team of doctors from Mother and Childcare Hospital under the leadership of Dr. Amita Jain (SMO) carried out the vaccination MR Vaccination drive in BCM School Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana. As many as 950 students from classes VI-VIII were administered the measles and rubella vaccination. The team said that each parent should utilize this opportunity and students were made aware about the benefits of vaccination. They also told the students that the main motto of this campaign is to eradicate the measles and rubella from India.

KG Section of BCM School celebrated ‘Mother’s Day’ by organizing varied activities. The little BCMites enthusiastically took part in these activities organized for the day. Where the kids of Nursery made greeting cards with the help of teachers, the students of LKG filled colour in the picture of heart and pasted the photograph of their mother .  The students of UKG wrote a few lines on their mother and made it attractive by colouring it with their fingerprints

3 students Mohak Kumar(VIII-F), Srishti (VII -G) & Krish Negi (VI-E) bagged medals for securing First rank in class. Mohak Kumar also got 4^th National Rank, Consolation prize & gift voucher in the same.

As a part of Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination drive launched by the government of India where 1.23 crore children will be vaccinated all over India , a Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination camp was organized in BCM School, Chandigarh Road  today. Around 1200 students from Class I to V were administered a single shot of combined measles-rubella (MR) vaccine in the school premises. The health staff from MCH, Vardhman, Sec. 32 headed by Dr. Amita Jain, Nodal Officer and Senior Medical Officer, Dr. Rahul Auplish, Medical Officer (Paed.) Civil Hospital and Gurdhian Singh, Supervisor administered the vaccine to the students. There were two venues for vaccination and one hall was kept as observation room where students were kept under observation for half an hour after vaccination. The camp went on smoothly under the supervision of Health staff and school staff. On this occasion, the vaccination team said that parents should utilize the opportunity to vaccinate their children, because the objective of the government is to eliminate measles and congenital rubella syndrome from the country and build up immunity in children aged between nine months to fifteen years.

The love of mother is the veil of a softer light between the heart and heavenly father. Mother's Day is a day on which everyone expresses their gratitude to mothers. To mark the occasion, a plethora of activities were conducted in Primary wing of BCM School, Sector 32-A, Chandigarh Road. Students from I to III recited heart touching poems in Hindi and Punjabi and expressed their emotions. They used various props to present their poem more effectively. Class IV student participated in a greeting card making competition wherein they showcased their creativity and articulated their adoration to their mothers through beautiful eye catching cards. Class V students celebrated Family day by participating in an elocution competition on the topic “Importance of Family”. 

Mother’s Day, the day that recognizes the essence of a mother was celebrated in high spirits and merriment at BCM School, Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana. The celebrations of the propitious day were done one day prior in the school campus with a Special Morning Assembly, Greeting Card Making, Power Point Presentations, Poem Recitation & Thank Message Writing. Heart-warming feelings filled the air with intimacy, gratitude, appreciation and acknowledgement .The school display boards were decorated with these beautiful cards & messages, conveying an important message of being humble, respectful and obedient to the parents. Teachers made an earnest effort to instill the importance of mother in a child’s life through effective thematic presentations, moral stories and video clippings. The students passionately got involved in all the activities. Besides this, world Migratory Bird Day was also celebrated in the school to make the students acquainted with Migratory Birds’ habitat, time of migration and to highlight the need to protect migratory birds. Our Head of the Institute , Mr. D.P.Guleria inspired the children to inculcate virtuous deeds and resort to ethical ways that makes the parents happy and contented.

To celebrate the various advancements that have emerged in the field of technology and to commemorate the National Technology Day a special morning assembly and PPT Making Competition were organized in BCM School, Chandigarh Road Ludhiana. This day is celebrated across the country to memorize the anniversary of Shakti, The Pokhran nuclear test held on 11 May 1998. Students from classes VI –VIII participated in Power Point Presentation Competition on ‘The Latest Technologies’ and all the participants showcased their knowledge by explaining the latest progressions in the arena of Technology and Science. All the participants participated enthusiastically and put their best efforts to triumph the tag of winner.  Power Point Presentations keep the audience engaged and excited, also, not letting them lose their concentration. The participants and winners were awarded with the certificates. Saarvi of class VII E glorified the importance of science in day to day life in her PPT and won the first position.

Following the guidelines of government, MR Vaccination was administered to the students of KG Section on May 3,2018 in the Kindergarten wing of BCM School. Almost 450 students got vaccinated by a special team of doctors

As a mark of respect to the founder of Red Cross movement Sir Henry Dunant, World Red Cross Day was celebrated in BCM School, Chandigarh Road. This day is celebrated every year on May 8 to mark its founder’s birthday and to highlight the fundamental principles of Red Cross Society like Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Volunteer Service, Unity and Universality. In order to inculcate the value of help in students and to make them aware about the role of Red Cross Society and its motto, “Everywhere for Everyone”,   World Red Cross Day was the theme adopted in the morning assembly. Through a PPT students understood the value of First Aid, assistance at the right time and above all helping. Students were imparted information on this special day and the reason it is celebrated worldwide. Lectures were held by the teachers in respective classes. Students were fascinated to know the main functions of the Red Cross that fall into four categories- blood collection, disaster relief, aids to soldiers and victims of war and community education.  

The peals of laughter echoed loud in the campus of BCM School Sec-32 as the toddlers ok KG Section celebrated ‘World Laughter Day’. The teachers in their respective classes brought smiles on the faces of their students with laughter exercises. They also acquainted the children with the benefits of laughing through different stories. Principal Mr.DP Guleria said that each day should be celebrated as laughter day as in today’s stressful life laughter can only relax us.

Labour Day was celebrated with full aplomb. School campus wore a festive look with gleeful faces and streams of Thank you cards, all set to celebrate the unsung pillars of the school. A special assembly inaugurated the day wherein students made everyone acquainted of the importance of the day and also thanked all the helpers of the school for their support and dedication.
They were acknowledged for their contributions and irreplaceable inputs for the welfare of the school.  Students were motivated to respect all such people without whose help, life would not be that easy. The class IV employees were taken aback by the show of affection and numerous expressions of gratitude.

Rhymes have an enormous educational value for the kids .Early learning of rhymes & rhythmic expressions enhance the phonetic skills of the toddlers. Keeping this  in mind BCM kindergarten organized  “Rhyme Recitation Competition” for UKG  class. This competition was organized on April 23, 2018. 20 short listed participants took part in this competition. Students showed their talent by reciting rhymes on the topic like Save girl child, Save water, India so great,Time is precious etc. The audience comprising of the parents of the participants were happy to see their kids performig on the stage. The winners received certificates as prizes and participants received books as appreciation for their efforts.

Dance is the hidden language of soul. The dance can reveal everything mysterious that is hidden in the music. To celebrate International Dance Day, a solo dance competition was organized for students of class IV and V. Students participated enthusiastically. They presented beautiful and energetic dances wearing eye-catching attires. Audience enjoyed jovially. It was an effort to find hidden talents of students.

Kindergarten Section   of BCM organised ‘Colouring Competition’  for the students of LKG.  The contestants enjoyed filling colours in  picture given to them.  It was a sheer pleasure to see young children filling colours in the picture of sunflower with  so much dexterity  and ease. The winners of the competition were given certificates whereas participants were given books as a souvenirs.

To ignite the love for books in the tender hearts of young  BCMites, ‘World Book Reading Day’ was celebrated with full vigour and enthusiasm in the KG section of BCM school on April 23,2018.The children were told about  the importance of books in the classrooms. Teachers also visited the school library and read the books of their choice. They got the books issued to write a review of the same
