BCM School witnessed an energetic start to its much-anticipated two-day Inter-House Volleyball Tournament, which commenced today with a vibrant and well-organized opening ceremony on the school grounds.

The event was graced by the esteemed presence of the Principal, Mr. D. P. Guleria, Vice Principal Ms. Manju Bhatti, academic coordinators, sports faculty, and an enthusiastic gathering of students. The programme began on a graceful note with a formal inauguration, followed by a disciplined and impressive march past by all participating players representing the four houses—Beas, Ravi, Satluj, and Yamuna—showcasing unity and house spirit.

This was followed by the oath-taking ceremony, where players pledged to uphold the values of fairness, loyalty, and true sportsmanship throughout the tournament. A melodious welcome song further set an inspiring tone for the occasion.

Marking a significant milestone, this edition of the tournament proudly introduced girls’ participation for the first time, making it a memorable chapter in the school’s sporting history. Adding emotional depth to the event, Japleen Kaur the paricipating player addressed the gathering, expressing her excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to represent her house and break new ground in school sports.

Addressing the gathering, Vice Principal Ms. Manju Bhatti emphasized the importance of teamwork, discipline, and maintaining grace in both victory and defeat. Principal Mr. D. P. Guleria then formally declared the tournament open, motivating participants to give their best while upholding the values of fair play and mutual respect.

The opening match of the tournament was played between the Under-19 Boys teams of Ravi House and Yamuna House. The match was highly competitive and exciting, with Yamuna House emerging victorious, thereby setting an energetic tone for the matches ahead.

The tournament will conclude tomorrow with the final matches and prize distribution ceremony, marking yet another successful sporting event that highlights BCM School’s commitment to excellence in co-curricular activities.
